Advisory - Request for Information

Update June 4, 2019 1243hrs.  A number of people have stepped forward to identify this suspect, UMPD is no longer seeking information on this case, thank you for your assistance.

The UMass Amherst Police Department is seeking help in identification of the individual in the attached photographs.  At 10:57AM on June 3, 2019 he was captured on video cutting a bike lock and stealing a bicycle from the bike racks outside the John Olver Design Building.  He appears to be a white male, average height and husky build.  He has dark hair that is closely shaved, a beard, but no mustache.  At the time of the incident he was wearing a t-shirt with large red and white horizontal stripes,​dark  gray shorts with a light plaid pattern, brown shoes, white framed sunglasses, and a dark gray backpack with ‘Under Armor’ down the middle of the back in green letters. The bike is a black Cannondale, women’s hybrid mountain bike style, serial number YC58355.  It is valued at $1400 and was the victim’s primary method of getting to work. If you know the identity of this individual or have any information regarding this case please email Officer Jeff Skinner at JSkinner@umass.edu or call 413-545-2121.  Anonymous tip information can be left at (413) 545-TIPS (8477) or by using the UMPD anonymous witness form at https://www.umass.edu/umpd/anonymous-witness-form
