Job Description: Looking for experience in researching agricultural history and the space and materials to try out the methods that originally shaped the ‘farm to table’ movement?
The Renaissance Center seeks 4-6 undergraduate students to create and maintain our beloved Renaissance kitchen garden.
Student gardeners/researchers will create and care for a historic Renaissance kitchen garden, including starting seeds, growing plants, maintaining the apple orchard, and herb gardens around the Renaissance Center.
Students will be encouraged to pursue their own research interests while maintaining general garden care to include mulching, weeding, and irrigation as needed.
Students will research, create, and present educational materials to the public.
Position requires interest and some experience in working on agricultural projects, flexibility, and ability to work on a team.
You must also be available during the summer (flexible dates and times).
The Center advances research in the early modern humanities and our mission is to develop and promote multicultural, diverse, relevant, and timely programming that fosters the best of interdisciplinary engagement in the humanities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be a current undergraduate student with federal work study.
Attention to detail, interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, dependable, punctual. Interest in history and/or library sciences. Ideal candidates will have a range of interests such as Renaissance history and culture, agricultural and earth sciences, sustainable food and farming, book history, women’s history, landscape architecture, natural resource conservation, & plant, soil, and insect sciences.
