PREPARING FOR LIFE: Audie Cornish with
Dean Lee Edwards (Photo courtesty of the Dean's Office) |
Dean Lee Edwards likes
to say of students that Were not just training them to make
a living, were preparing them to make a life. She says she
continues both to teach and to host such events as a monthly student breakfast
because she thinks the personal dimension is essential to their campus
experience.
I remember it was at
one of our breakfasts that I first met Audie Cornish, says the dean
about the subject of the story on these pages. Even then I could
see that there was something very dynamic and committed in her manner.
Whether our meeting
had anything to do with her seeking out a Perlman Scholarship, I cant
say still, I like to think it made her view the college as a place
that was interested in her future, encouraging her to seek out opportunities
available within it.
