Social Justice

First Baptist Church, Amherst, MA

We are located at the entrance to the University of Massachusetts. We are a church of diverse races, nations, cultures, generations, and backgrounds. People from 43 nations call FBC their spiritual home.  We serve our neighbors through our Food Pantry, Craig’s Place Homeless Shelter, ESL Classes, and Freedom Cafe all on our church campus.

Black Lives Matter, Boston Chapter

The Black Lives Matter Global Network is a chapter-based, member-led organization whose mission is to build local power and to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

We are expansive. We are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. We also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with us along the way, we must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. We must ensure we are building a movement that brings all of us to the front.

Groundtruth Project, The

GroundTruth focuses on issues of social justice including human rights, freedom of expression, emerging democracies, the environment, religious affairs and global health. We work to foster dialogue and engagement about these issues, with the aim of finding solutions, as well as exposing injustice.

Blues to Green

Blues to Green uses music to bring people together, uplift and inspire, and help to build a more equitable and sustainable world. Activities include performances, public talks, multi-media presentations, workshops and instructional programs—striving to promote accessibility to the arts, raise awareness about social and environmental issues, and provide educational and artistic opportunities for underserved youth. We also seek to generate support for local partner organizations contributing to sustainable community development and youth empowerment through the arts.
