Common School, Inc.

Guided by the philosophy that meaningful education must cultivate the imagination and instill an appreciation for learning as an engaging, joyful pursuit, The Common School creates a safe and stimulating atmosphere for learning that encourages children to trust in themselves and others, honor differences, question, take risks, collaborate, assume responsibility, and discover individual areas of strength and interest.

Jitegemee, Inc

Jitegemee is a small, charitable organization that provides vulnerable children in Machakos, Kenya with access to formal and vocational education. We believe every child with the desire to learn and the will to succeed should be encouraged to do so. We are dedicated to removing the obstacles that prevent children from attaining their educational or vocational goals—whether these obstacles are hunger, homelessness or lack of schooling. We were founded by the New York Times Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist Farah Stockman and support about 250 children per year.

Old Sturbridge Village

Old Sturbridge Village is an outdoor living history museum depicting life in an early 19th-century rural New England village, featuring costumed historians, artisans and farmers; historic homes, trade shops and water-powered mills; a working farm with heritage breed animals; and permanent and rotating exhibits.

Prison Book Program

Prison Book Program mails books to people in prison to support their educational, vocational and personal development and to help them avoid returning to prison after their release. We also aim to provide a quality volunteer experience that introduces citizens to issues surrounding the American prison system and the role of education in reforming it.  Here at Prison Book Program, we want to create an environment that is fun, informative, and above all, respectful.

Phi Beta Kappa, Nu of MA Chapter at UMass Amherst

Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest (founded in 1776) and most prestigious academic honor society in the United States recognizing academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. UMass Amherst students with excellent records in the liberal arts and sciences may be inducted into the chapter as juniors or seniors. Support for the chapter allows us to subvent the initiation fee (charged by the national Phi Beta Kappa Society) for students for whom that fee would be a barrier to joining.

Belchertown Education Foundation Inc.

The mission of the BEF is to support Belchertown public schools in providing an enriching educational experience that supports the academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits of Belchertown’s students as they develop into well-educated and well-rounded young adults.

North Star Self Directed Learning for Teens

North Star teens are individuals moving forward in unique directions at a pace that is right for them. North Star is not a school. We do not offer diplomas, credits, or grades. Rather, North Star offers an alternative to school where teens learn in the way that suits them best.
