Providing Resources and Comfort to Refugees

By Erin Luchenbill, Associate Community Engagement Specialist, Church World Service

We are facing the worst global refugee crisis since World War II.

Our values call us to answer the desperate pleas of mothers, fathers, and children searching for safety and assistance in their darkest hour. Over 4.8 million Syrians are now refugees, seeking safety in countries across the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Another 6.5+ million are displaced within Syria, forced from their homes due to violence and persecution.

Church World Service works with partners to eradicate hunger and poverty, and to promote peace and justice around the world. With your support, we are walking alongside those refugees traveling through Serbia to reach other European destinations.

CWS has been working in Serbia, one nation through which many refugees are passing on their way into the European Union, for months to provide much-needed supplies for families on the move. Through our partnership with the Red Cross, CWS has helped provide milk, waterproof emergency blankets, winter sneakers and thermal socks, jackets and thermal or disposable underpants.

When you donate and partner with CWS, you are able to share compassion and love in the midst of the trauma. You provide warmth, comfort, nutrition and affirmation that families fleeing home are not alone on their journey. Join us. You can do so much to help. Thank you!
