Planning a trip? Make the UHS Travel Medicine Clinic your first stop. We’ve got the information and vaccinations you need to help you stay healthy. Call (413) 577-5151  to make an appointment, or if you have questions.

The Travel Medicine Clinic provides services to members of the UMass community only.

Insurance and Billing

Please note that not all insurance covers travel vaccines. Prior to your visit, please consult with your health insurance carrier to ask about your health benefit for these services so you are aware of what your out-of-pocket expense will be. UHS will bill your health insurance for the travel visit and the vaccines given the day of your visits. Any and all vaccines and visit costs not paid by your health insurance are your responsibility. You will be asked to sign a financial agreement form prior to your visit.

Vaccines Available

We provide the following vaccines for travel:

  • Yellow Fever
  • Typhoid
  • Japanese Encephalitis
  • Pre-Exposure Rabies
  • Hepatitis A & Hepatitis B
  • Influenza

We are also able to update routine vaccinations.

COVID-19 vaccines are available at UHS and the Public Health Promotion Center. It is advised that you contact the embassy of your destination regarding specific COVID-19 guidelines for travel.

Travel Health Tips

Overall, half of travelers get sick in a month abroad. Be in the healthy group who doesn't! Learn about what to know and bring to stay healthy on your travels in this guide from UHS' Dr. Hinckley.

UMass Amherst has purchased an international travel insurance package which provides coverage and services to students participating in university-sponsored and approved international study programs, and to faculty, staff and volunteers on approved international travel for university business.
