University Health Services at UMass Amherst is proud to offer Sports Medicine & Non-Operative Orthopedics. Our fellowship-trained physicians provide specialty services for our varsity athletes at UMass as well as our student population, faculty, staff, and their dependents. Utilizing their advanced training in non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine, our physicians will see you for injuries and illnesses resulting from your athletic pursuits and/or your activities of daily living.
Specialty services we provide include, but are not limited to:
- Fractures and tendon injuries including splinting and casting
- Musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics and guided injections for tendons/nerves/joints
- Regenerative injections including prolotherapy and Platelet Rich Plasma
- Steroid injections
- Athletic related injuries and illnesses
- Overuse injuries
- Concussion evaluations and management
- Sports physicals
- Exercise/nutrition advice and counseling
- Referrals from any physician for specialty counseling on injuries
- Ligament injuries to joints
- Arthritis complaints
Appointments and Referrals
We do not require a referral, but you can be referred by your family practitioner if desired. Otherwise, you can call the UHS Appointment Line and ask to be seen by a sports medicine provider: call (413) 577-5101.
