Exceptions:
- Copays are charged for prescriptions at UHS Pharmacy, which you will pay when you pick up your prescription.
- You will have out-of-pocket costs for ultrasounds, which are provided at UHS by Holyoke Hospital as a convenience for our patients.
- You may have out-of-pocket costs associated with Eye Care & Optical Services visits.
- You will be charged copays/deductibles when seen outside UHS.
Step One: Choose a Provider at UHS
For continuity of care, we recommend choosing a provider. Learn about all our providers in the Provider Directory. Choose one and call (413) 577-5101 or join the Request an Appointment Callback Queue to schedule an appointment for a physical exam. Bring any prescription medications you take to this appointment.
Please Note: You can choose a new provider at any time and do not need provider referrals for care.
Step Two: Get Care at UHS When You're Sick or Injured
If you get sick or injured, there are several ways to access care:
- Use the Urgent Treatment Clinic for same-day care. Join the queue and get a text when it's your turn to come to UHS.
- Call (413) 577-5101 for an appointment.
- You can self-schedule same-day sick visits on the Patient Portal. Log in and click "Get Started" under University Health Services. Then click "Appointments" in the sidebar menu to book appointments for:
- Flu/cold symptoms
- Ear problems
- Eye redness/irritation
- Rash/skin problems
- Urinary tract infections
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing

Step Three: Use UHS for Specialty Care

Eye Care & Optical Services
At Eye Care & Optical Services on the 2nd floor of UHS, you can get eye exams, prescriptions, contact lenses, glasses, and emergency eye care. SHBP covers an annual eye exam and emergency eye care! Undergrad plan includes a $400 annual eyewear benefit.

Print Your Card & Learn More
SHBP members must print a new insurance card each academic year. You can download and print your card from the Wellfleet website by logging in and clicking "View Card." Bring your insurance card to UHS Pharmacy and when you receive medical care outside UHS.
