Who We Are
UHS Population & Public Health serves as a strategic convener and trusted partner, bringing together expertise, coordinating initiatives, sharing data, and supporting evidence-based decision-making across the institution. Our role is to strengthen the university's collective ability to promote health, prevent disease, and improve the wellbeing of our community.

What We Do
Clinical Public Health Services
We provide essential, accessible services designed to prevent illness and support early detection:
- Campus immunization programs, including required and recommended vaccines
- Walk-in and mobile vaccination clinics, offered throughout the year in convenient campus locations
- STI testing and screening services, in partnership with UHS clinical programs
These services make it easier for students and campus community members to stay up to date on preventive care and protect both individual and community health.
Campus Public Health Role
We fulfill key responsibilities traditionally carried out by local public health authorities, including:
- Investigating public health concerns and complaints
- Supporting compliance with public health standards
- Coordinating with local and state agencies
- Providing guidance during public health events and emergencies
Advancing a Health Promoting University
Through both longstanding and emerging partnerships, the UHS Population & Public Health supports UMass Amherst’s commitment as a Health Promoting University, advancing:
- Student learning and workforce development, and
- The health and well-being of the campus community
