The Amherst firework show to celebrate Independence Day will take place on Friday, July 1, 2022, behind McGuirk Alumni Stadium. Riders can reach the stadium using normal PVTA routes, but drop-off only shuttle buses will be provided after the event for those looking to return home. See below for routing information:
Reaching McGuirk Stadium:
Take Route 30 or Route 31 to Fearing Street, then walk 1 mile to the stadium.
Alternatively, for a shorter walk:
- Transfer to the B43 headed for Northampton and get off on University Drive before the Amity Street intersection.
- Transfer to the 33 headed for Big Y/Stop & Shop and get off at the bottom of Amity Street near University Drive.
Returning Home After the Fireworks:
Main Street to Colonial Village and Old Belchertown Road (Route 30):
Board the Old Belchertown Road bus by 10:15 pm at Dallas Mall/McGuirk Stadium. The bus will travel via Amity Street to Main Street in Amherst and drop off passengers along Route 30 to Old Belchertown Road.
South Amherst (Route 31) and downtown Amherst to UMass and North Amherst (Route 30):
Board the South Amherst bus by 10:10 pm at Dallas Mall/McGuirk Stadium. The bus will travel via Amity Street, take a right onto South Pleasant, and drop off at bus stops along Route 31 to the Boulders. The bus will then head North and drop off passengers along Route 30 from downtown Amherst, through UMass, and to Puffton Village.
