The Translation Center is a non-profit organization. Proceeds are used to hire students and to support teaching, research, and other translation- and language-related activities.
Here is a list of some of the faculty- and student-led initiatives we support:

In addition, we hire undergraduate and graduate students as office assistants, and occasionally as interpreters and translators depending on their skills and languages. They work closely with the Translation Center's project managers on specific assignments and occasionally participate in the translation process as translators or reviewers. They also work with the Director on special projects and provide administrative support. Thanks to their time with us, students gain valuable professional experience and develop an awareness of responsible language use and language accessibility that remains with them beyond UMass.
