Invocation + Earth!
Dear Festival-goers —
We are postponing our Invocation, Earth!, and Monuments of the Future (Atlas), until April 24 at 7:15 p.m.
With high winds forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening, we are concerned for the safety of our performers, crew, and audience.
All registrations originally made for Thursday will be honored on Saturday. If you have registration questions, please contact our Public Relations Director.
Until we can gather in person for the Invocation, we invite you to peruse some of the online presentations already available on our website (www.rightsofspringumass.com), or see one of our other in-person performances taking place on Friday.
We’ll see you on Saturday!
Taking pride of place beside the Campus Pond just in time for Earth Day, this striking piece of public, activist art will raise awareness about ways to address climate change. Earth! is a transdisciplinary project between Theater technology and students from the School of Earth and Sustainability and the School of Public Policy, who have creatively applied technology, science, and art to technically design and fabricate a 24’ diameter planet earth structure that is also a model of sustainability, as the construction materials are meant to be reused in future projects.
The Earth! installation will premiere as part of our opening celebration starting with an Invocation at 7:15 and processing to Earth! at 7:45. Invocation + Earth and the April 22 performance of Monuments of the Future are all part of the opening celebration. Registering for either event means you are also able to attend the other. Register for both on our festival website. Please contact us if you have mobility issues that could impact your participation in the procession.
Once Earth! premieres it will remain up for viewing throughout the festival and no ticket is needed.
