B.S. The New England Institute of Art

After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Audio and Media Technology in Boston, Ryan relocated to Norfolk, VA where he ran the sound department for Virginia Stage Company from 2011 to 2014. Ryan then moved on to freelance as a sound technician and designer in New York City and then Chicago. Between theatre productions in Chicago, Ryan worked for the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs as part of the inaugural video production team. Most recently, Ryan was based in Washington DC as the Resident Sound Designer for Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA. Signature specializes in nontraditional stage configurations, which gave him plenty of practice designing sound systems; it was a good blend of Ryan's studio recording background and his desire to design for musical theatre. During his six years at Signature, the company's online presence grew with quality promotional material and producing a four-show virtual season during the pandemic lockdown. Some favorite sound design credits include: VSC: The Woman in Black; Drury Lane Theatre: Deathtrap (Jeff Award Sound Design Nomination), Smokey Joes Cafe; Signature Theatre: TitanicA Little Night Music (Helen Hayes Sound Design Nomination), Light YearsGirlfriend (Helen Hayes Sound Design Nomination), Scottsboro BoysA Chorus LineGrand HotelAssassins, She Loves Me, and The Color Purple. Ryan is happy to be back to his home state of Massachusetts.
