Michael has been involved in theater technology and the arts for over 30 years. His resume includes nationally-recognized theater companies such as Alaska Repertory Theater, Children's Theater Company of Minneapolis, Classical Theater of Harlem, Guthrie Theater, Mixed Blood Theater, Stage One: Louisville Children's Theater and Utah Shakespeare Festival. Michael has also owned and operated two successful design/fabrication companies, Temple Design Studios, Inc., in Minneapolis and Michael Cottom Woodworking Studio in Lesvos, Greece. Previously, he has taught at the University of Arizona and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Michael's skills include technical design, project management, furniture design and construction, fine woodworking and metalworking, AutoCAD, properties design, and automation technology. Michael's non-work interests revolve around his family, running, and the outdoors.
