Juliana von Haubrich

Juliana von Haubrich is a visual artist and scenic designer. She received her MFA in Scenic Design from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 1999.
While in L.A., Juliana worked in theatre, film, and television. She earned an L.A. Weekly "Best of L.A." nomination for her design of Ghosts in the Cottonwoods, a new play by Adam Rapp. Juliana has designed sets for Echo Theatre Company and was asked by Ojai Playwrights Conference to create concept drawings for their new play festival - a first in their history. Juliana has also worked for Paramount Studios and TNT art departments, assisting on the Star Trek series and Babylon 5.
In the fall of 2000, she moved to NYC to design operas and plays for The Juilliard School, The Acting Company, and Present Company Theatre (during the 1st two NYC Fringe Festivals).
In 2010, having moved to the Berkshires, Juliana was invited to join the start of a vibrant new company: WAM Theatre. For its first 13 years, Juliana designed all but a few of their productions. She was an Associate Artist and Production Manager with the company until 2023. Also in the Berkshire region, Juliana has designed sets for Great Barrington Public Theater, Shakespeare & Company, Berkshire Theatre Group, Chester Theatre Company, Dorset Theatre Festival, and CapRep in Albany. In 2014, she designed a critically acclaimed set for The Whale, at the Adirondack Theatre Festival.
In 2019, Juliana designed a new production of Ann at the Arena Stage in Washington DC, with the legendary Jayne Atkinson. The production then traveled to Dallas Theatre Center as a co-production.
Juliana has worked with students at Williams College, Theatre Institute at Russell Sage, SUNY Albany Theatre Department, Westfield State College, MCLA, Siena College and Simon’s Rock. Juliana is also a member of the United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE.
Originally from Michigan, Juliana has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Michigan (1996). Juliana is also the founding Technical Director and Scenic Designer for Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, working with them from 1993-96.
