Felicia Malachite has worked with creative textiles for over a decade, a career that stemmed from childhood experiences that led to a passion for her craft. She has spent her entire life creating costumes for theater, dance, and live music – culminating in a BA in costume design and history from the University of Massachusetts.

She has coordinated and taught workshops at the University of Massachusetts Amherst crafts center. She has assisted the costume shop manager in the Department of Theater since 1997 and previously taught costume design at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School. Other positions include head painter/dyer for the Santa Fe Opera and production assistant to author/illustrator Eric Carle. Malachite has designed and constructed costumes for shows at the Boston Ballet, New Century Theater (Smith College), and Shakespeare and Company.
