Felicia Malachite

Felicia Malachite has been the Costume Shop Assistant Manager at the UMass Theater Department since 2004, where she supports costume construction, alterations, and student mentorship. She is committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment that fosters hands-on learning and technical skill development.

 

Felicia holds a B.A. from UMass Amherst through the BDIC program, concentrating in Costume Design and History. Her specialties include costume painting and dyeing, pattern drafting, and costume history.

 

Her previous experience includes serving as Head Painter/Dyer for the Santa Fe Opera, designing costumes for Commonwealth Opera, New Century Theater, and UMass Amherst, and working in both modern dance and ballet. She has taught Textile Arts and Costume Design at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts high school, and held roles as a Draper at Shakespeare and Company and Costume Crafts Assistant at the Boston Ballet.
