Improving your teaching need not require massive changes. In fact, a recent multi-campus research project shows that a fairly simple intervention – using the principles of transparency when explaining the purpose, tasks, and criteria for an assignment – can lead to enhanced student success, particularly for underrepresented students. So why not try it?
In this workshop, you will:
- explore how to help your students gain confidence in their ability to learn;
- design a transparent assignment for one of your classes;
- become familiar with the research on transparency and the particular types of students it helps most; and
- reflect on how you build assignments.
Come join us for a light lunch, some good cheer, and some answers. Led by Brian Baldi (TEFD, Assistant Director).
