An Event of the International Scholars Forum Series
Date: Monday, October 2, 2017
Time: 2:30PM to 4:00PM
Location: 301 Goodell, TEFD Conference Room
Group work, in the classroom or the lab, is a great way to engage students and strengthen learning. But it can be hard as the instructor to move away from a prepared, scripted lecture and to turn over control to students working in groups or in the lab. We also need to consider how to navigate cultural differences in team work settings, both from the perspective of international instructors and international students. Join us to discuss student expectations of (and resistance to) group work, your own concerns, and tricks to try in your next class. Part of the International Scholars Forum co-sponsored by TEFD and the Graduate School Office of Professional Development; all international faculty, postdocs, and grad students are welcome! Light snacks will be provided. Pre-registration required.
