UMass Amherst is working to make transportation more accessible both environmentally and physically at the university.

From public transit and bikes to EVs and beyond, we know that when it comes to sustainability, transportation is where the rubber really meets the road.

Free, Reliable Bus Service Through PVTA

UMass Amherst partners with the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) to provide free, frequent bus service for students, faculty, and staff. The network connects the campus with neighboring towns, making it easy to commute without a car.

UMass is Bike Friendly

UMass Amherst was named a Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists, but that's not the whole story. From ValleyBike to student-led initiatives such as the Bike Co-Op and the SGA Bike Share, our campus is helping you pedal toward sustainability.

Keeping Up with the EV Revolution

Several parking lots and the Campus Center Parking Garage feature Level 2 chargers—operated by ChargePoint—available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Charging stations are noted on the UMass Parking Services interactive map.

The campus fleet is also changing to electric vehicles. Charging stations for fleet vehicles have been installed at the Physical Plant building through a $175,000 MA DOER Leading by Example EVIP Grant.
