Akilah Jaramogi, featured in the short documentary "Earth, Water, Woman: Community and Sustainability in Trinidad and Tobago" will be here at UMass to share her knowledge with us. She is an expert in tropical permaculture and agroforestry, linkages between culture and environment; community organizing, the interface between government and NGO's, and Rastafari feminism among many other topics.

Forsaken Food: Why We Waste Nearly Half of our Food (and what we can do about it)

Jonathan Bloom is a journalist and food waste expert who wrote the book American Wasteland and created the blog Wasted Food. He has spoken on food waste from South Bend to Santiago to Singapore. He also consults on food waste reduction, most recently working with the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization, General Mills, and several startups. For the 2012-13 school year, he was the O.V.W. Hawkins Expert-in-Residence at Bucknell University.
