UMass Amherst, along with the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) and the cities of Springfield, Holyoke and Northampton and the Town of Amherst have committed to a pilot regional bike share program. 

The university has installed charging station across campus to encourage the use of electric vehicles.

NuRide is an incentive program available to UMass Amherst students, faculty, and staff that rewards alternative transportation choices and is also the official rideshare database for Massachusetts.

 

 Anyone with a UCard can go to room 420 of the Student Union and borrow a free bike for 24 hours or for an entire weekend. 

UMass Amherst has received "Honorable Mention" status by the League of American Bicyclists - Bicycle Friendly Universities list.
