Real Food Challenge

Real Food Challenge at the University of Massachusetts Amherst

In 2013, Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy signed the Real Food Challenge, which requires 20% of the university’s food purchases be “real food” — local/community-based, fair, ecologically sound, and humane food sources — by 2020. At the time, UMass Amherst was the largest university in America to sign the agreement.
