
As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce landfill waste from campus operations and residents, the UMass New2U program has been expanded to offer year-round textile reycling boxes in two locations on campus.
Locations:
1. Southwest Residential Area: Top of SW Circle horseshoe in front of Hampden Dining Commons | map
2. Central Residential Area: Outside of Brooks Hall off of Infirmary Way | map
Our Partner: Bay State Textiles serves over 120 municipalities throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut with over 40 years of experience in the post-consumer textile waste industry.
Acceptable Items: These boxes accept clothing, footwear, accessories, and linens.
Acceptable Clothing: Tops, Sweaters, Sweatshirts, Dresses, Tank Tops, Blazers, Pants, Jeans, Sweatpants, Skirts, Shorts, Slacks, Undergarments, Socks, T-Shirts, Slips, Pajamas, Coats
Acceptable Footwear: Shoes, Heels, Pumps, Sandals, Boots, Work Boots, Dress Boots, Winter Boots, Sneakers, Cleats, Slippers, Flip Flops
Acceptable Accessories: Hats, Pocketbooks, Belts, Gloves, Duffle Bags, Ties, Scarfs, Totes, Bathrobes
Acceptable Linens: Sheets, Blankets, Draperies, Pillows, Towels, Table Linens, Comforters, Throw Rugs Placemats, Stuffed Animals
Items that are NOT Accepted: Mattresses, Mattress Pads, Foam Products, Couch Cushions, Lawn Furniture Cushions, Carpet Remnants, Rugs (larger than 2’ x 4’)
