International high school aged students can participate in a one-week college preparatory program led by faculty and students and graduate students from UMASS College of Education.
The program which will run from June 29 through July 5, 2014 includes tours of a wide range of higher education institutions.
The program begins with an overview of the American college application process; students will explore the types of colleges and universities that match their interests and aptitudes.
Students will learn how to create a resume, how to generate ideas and organize topics when writing college application essays, and will receive faculty feedback on their writing.
Students will become familiar with the different types of applications schools use including Common Application system. Students will visit the Five Colleges in and around Amherst as well as colleges and universities in Boston.
Participants will also get to enjoy one of America’s unique holidays, Independence Day, on July 4th.
International students should have an English Language Competency at an intermediate level or above.
Students without a TOEFL score may be required to have a SKYPE interview.
