Sport Analytics | UMass Mt. Ida Campus

Date: July 13 - July 17, 2020
Program length: 1 week

This is a commuter program located at the UMass Mt. Ida campus in Newton, MA. Class runs from 9am - 4pm M - F.

UMass’s #1 ranked Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management has recently added a Sport Analytics module to its roster of summer pre-college programs. This one week module examines the fast-growing industry segment of sport analytics in order to understand the wide variety of issues impacting key stakeholders within the sports industry. To understand the role of analytics within the sport industry, students must have a solid foundational understanding of the analytical process itself. Full-time faculty members and alumni will examine the following question in depth with students: how are data-driven insights created, standardized, and implemented to increase competitive advantages on the field (player performance), and in the boardroom (roster construction / business analytics)?
Students will also learn the various ways in which to integrate analytics into organizational decision-making. After completing this module students should be able to effectively communicate and present analytic information and help transform analytical results into actionable managerial strategy and decision-making in a variety of sport settings.
