Start Your Semester Off Strong
Welcome to the fall semester! Whether you’re new to college or returning, you always have room to grow in your academic success strategies. While some skills may come naturally, many students report that past academic strategies no longer work when it comes to college-level courses.
Here’s a list to help you start off the semester strong:
- Map out your semester by using your syllabi to chart your days, weeks, and months in a planner or calendar so that you can view everything (assignments, tests dates, etc.) in one place.
- Identify course-specific resources by looking at the Learning Resource Center webpage. Here you can identify which of your courses offer tutoring and/or supplemental instruction (SI). Put SI times in your calendar or planner and make a plan to go every week!
- Assess and expand your academic success toolkit by attending the Success Toolkit Series. Topics in the series include: time management, active learning, exam prep, and effective email communication.
