Carolyn Bassett is the Associate Provost for Student Success at UMass Amherst. She leads a team of 20 professionals and graduate students offering a range of supports that help undergraduates thrive personally and academically, and that honor the student’s chosen path. Throughout her many years in higher education, Carolyn has prioritized networked, holistic, and inclusive programs at the intersection of academic affairs and student affairs, and making college make sense for students. She has held positions in academic advising, international student services, new student programs, career development, and teaching students with learning disabilities. She is a 2018 recipient of the UMass Chancellor’s Citation Award. Carolyn earned her B.A. from Bates College in Political Science and her M.A. from Boston College in Higher Education Administration and Student Development. If she’s not on campus, she’s probably out hiking with her dog.
