Adam Ortiz is the Director of Student Success Outreach at UMass Amherst and has been a campus community member since 2013. His work is primarily focused on building initiatives that support the success of first-generation students, transfer students, and students who are experiencing financial instability. Throughout his career in higher education, Adam has written and presented on first-generation student success, socioeconomic class narratives in college, multiracial student support, men and masculinities, facilitation, the residential first-year experience, and learning communities. Adam earned his M.A. in English from Wheaton College (MA) and his M.Ed. from the University of Vermont. Outside of work, Adam enjoys traveling, history, and cooking.
