What is My CRU?
My CRU (Campus Remote Unit or Campus Residential Unit) is a student led program by which new students will be remotely engaged in cohorts through facilitated conversations and activities that contribute to their wellbeing and connection to UMass Amherst.
Groups will be led by CRU Ambassadors, a mix of graduate and undergraduate students trained in social justice dialogue and facilitation. These Ambassadors have held peer leadership positions in Student Affairs and Campus Life and will facilitate dialogue amongst My CRU members using a curriculum.
My CRU Groups
Students will be organized by Academic School/College in groups of approximately 10 students with consideration given to the time zone a student is currently learning in.
Groups will meet regularly to connect with one another, check in, and engage in conversations related to their wellbeing and connection to the university.
Learning Priorities and Outcomes
As a result of participating in the My CRU program, students will feel connected to UMass Amherst.
At the conclusion of the program, students will be able to:
- Identify two UMass Amherst peers they would identify as friends.
- Identify how to find specific information in SPIRE.
- Describe two healthy habits that contribute to their personal success.
- Articulate resiliency strategies to overcome challenges.
