Michelle Letendre, M.Ed.

Health Promotion Specialist

Michelle's work at BASICS is an extension of a counseling and mental health career spanning more than two decades.

She provided academic, career and personal counseling for public school students in grades 9 - 12, with accomplishments including development of programs addressing substance abuse, nontraditional career options, gender equity, diversity and other issues; creation of student support groups; and the founding of a retail project to fund student scholarships.

Prior to joining BASICS, Michelle maintained a private practice as a youth development consultant in Northampton and Amherst, and was a guest lecturer, speaking to area colleges and conferences on issues impacting young people.

Michelle holds a master's degree in school counseling from UMass Amherst and is a summa cum laude graduate of Western New England College, where she received a bachelor's degree in psychology.

While she has had a lifelong passion for dance, her most current and most consuming passion is her young son.
