Mission
The UMass Amherst Stonewall Center seeks to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and accepting campus environment for LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty through education, programming, and support. We collaborate intersectionally with other UMass offices and local groups to build LGBTQIA+ community and connection, raise awareness of and advocate for the needs of LGBTQIA+ students, and foster LGBTQIA+ authenticity, belonging, and joy.
Vision
The Stonewall Center envisions the University of Massachusetts Amherst to be a justice-centered, anti-racist, and anti-ableist campus that includes and celebrates people across spectrums of gender, sexual, and romantic identities; affirms the intersectional realities of people’s lives; and challenges oppression. We seek to foster an environment where intentional relationships are established to examine, learn, and understand our collective responsibility to create more inclusive, affirming, and accommodating communities.
