Officer Kimberly Muñoz is the formal liaison between the UMPD and the campus LGBTQIA+ community. If you have experienced an anti-LGBTQIA+ hate crime or incident, need assistance with reporting any type of crime, or have questions related to the police and campus safety, you can reach Kimberly at the UMPD at (413) 545-2121 or @email. In an emergency, call the police at (413) 545-2121 or 911.

 

Detective Marcus Humber is the Amherst Police Department’s liaison to the LGBTQIA+ community. He can be reached at (413) 259-3355 or @email.

 

The Center for Women and Community has confidential advocates who supports people who have experienced relationship violence or abuse, sexual assault, or stalking. If you have experienced violence or abuse and would like to have a confidential conversation about the criminal justice process, UMass resources, or options for support, you can call the Center for Women and Community's sexual assault hotline, which is available 24/7, at (413) 545-0800.

Student Groups

Bi/Pan/Queer Collective (BPQC)
BPQC is social group for bisexual, pansexual, queer, and sexually fluid students that meets every Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. during the school year at the Stonewall Center. Find them on Discord and Instagram.

Out in STEM at UMass
oSTEM is a group for undergraduate and graduate students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields. Find them on Discord and Instagram.

The SpACE+
The SpACE+ is a group for undergraduate and graduate students who are asexual, demisexual, gray asexual, and elsewhere on the asexual spectrum. It meets every other Monday from 7-8 p.m. during the school year at the Stonewall Center. Find them on Discord.

UMass Queer Kehillah
Kehilah is a Registered Student Organization for LGBTQIA+ Jewish students and allies. Find them on Discord and Instagram.

 

Support Groups

LGBTQIA+ Grad Student Support & Discussion Space: every other Wednesday, 5-6 p.m., Stonewall Center
This is a peer-facilitated, drop-in space sponsored by the Stonewall Center for LGBTQIA+ and questioning grad students to meet each other, build community, and give mutual support and care.

LGBTQIA+ Talk Space: every Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m., 327 Goodell Hall
This is a weekly drop-in group for students to socialize, make friends, and talk about topics like classes, mental health, and being LGBTQIA+. Open to all UMass and other Five College students. Sponsored by the Stonewall Center and CCPH.

Pride Atlas Support Group: every Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m., 427 Goodell Hall
Pride Atlas is a support group for LGBTQIA+ international students that is facilitated by the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH). Co-sponsored by the Stonewall Center and the Office of Global Affairs.

Trans & Gender-Nonconforming Support Group: every Wednesday, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
All meetings are by Zoom, except the first Wednesday of each month, which is held in-person at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH). Free and open to all UMass and other Five College students who identify as trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, or questioning. Facilitated by CCPH. Groups are listed if they allow LGBTQIA+ people to participate in all religious activities; serve in all leadership positions for which they are otherwise qualified; embrace same-sex couples and, where possible, perform same-sex marriages; interpret their religious texts in ways that are not hurtful to LGBTQIA+ people; and do not treat LGBTQIA+ people as spiritually incomplete by virtue of their sexuality or gender identity (i.e., LGBTQIA+ people do not need to reject their sexuality or gender identity to get to any afterlife).
