Student Spotlight

Rising STPEC Seniors Jada Harris and Michelle Ortiz were recently awarded placements in the competitive SBS in DC internship program. They are two of 20 students chosen from a pool of over 80 candidates within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. This summer, Jada will intern within the office of Massachusetts Congresswoman Katherine M. Clarke. Jada will engage in a variety of legislative tasks including issue research and attending briefings on behalf of the Congresswoman's office. Michelle will serve as the Media Intern for the Church World Service's Immigration and Refugee Program. Her work will focus on uplifting the stories of refugees and immigrants and supporting CWSC during public events. The SBS in DC program matches students with host internship sites for 10-week internships and includes an online class and the opportunity to network with UMass Alumni who are working in the Washington D.C. area.

Congratulations Jada and Michelle!
