Trans Rights - Past, Present & Future: A Conversation with M. Dru Levasseur

Tuesday, November 1st from 7 to 9 p.m., ILC S140

UMass alum M. Dru Levasseur (WGSS ’03, WNE Law ’06) has been a leader in the US movement for Trans Rights for over 15 years.  He was the first staff attorney at the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund before joining Lambda Legal to direct its national Trans Rights Project for 10 years. Dru is now the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. You can read much more about Dru’s many cases and accomplishments here.


Law, Policy, and Nonprofits: Three Ways to Change the World

Are you passionate about making change in the world but not quite sure how to make it happen? Join the School of Public Policy, UMass Amherst Pre-Law, and MassPIRG for a panel discussion on November 9, 2022 at 5pm on three different pathways to make change happen: Law, policy, and non-profits.

We will be joined by several speakers for this event:

  • Ayla Thorntona: Legislative Aide at Massachusetts Senate, Office of Senator Sal DiDomenico
  • Cobi Frongillo: Researcher on the Massachusetts Legislative Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities & Energy and Town Councilor in Franklin, Massachusetts
  • Chris Cappucci: Assistant District Attorney for Hampden County District Attorney's Office. Previously Staff Director for Massachusetts House of Representatives and Legislative Director to Representative Paul Mark
