Kelsey Barowich

University of Massachusetts School of Public Policy (SPP) alum Kelsey Barowich

I am originally from Lowell, MA. I studied Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies with a concentration in Race Relations as an undergraduate at UMass Amherst. This fall I will begin and finish the MPP program. I am excited to combine these areas of study with a knowledge of public policy in order to help develop and advocate for more social justice policies. My academic and social justice areas of interest include: Women’s/LGBTQ civil rights, prison reform, access to education, and campaign finance reform. Outside of these interests I enjoy learning about mentoring, community development, and emotional intelligence – all of which I believe are essential to creating and implementing effective policy. In the past I have interned for Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (MA-3), the Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus, and Girls Incorporated of Greater Lowell. I am a passionate and energetic individual looking forward to meeting everyone in our cohort.
