Emily Devenney

University of Massachusetts School of Public Policy (SPP) alum Emily Devenney

My name is Emily, and I am a first-year MPP student; I received my B.A. in Economics from UMass in May 2015. I chose to pursue graduate studies in Public Policy rather naturally, following the path I created as a student active with the UMass Civic Engagement and Service Learning department, Center for Education Policy and Advocacy, and Resident Assistant Union. Since 2011, I have also served with The Literacy Project, and am excited about the seamless interchange of nonprofit experience and policy studies I will foster this year; I am passionate about the evolution and improvement of the U.S. Education System, and ultimately envision myself advocating for an equitable, accessible, and non-capitalist system. In addition to my studies and service, this year I will be working with UMass Student Activities and Involvement as a Graduate Assistant for CALLS, UMass Community Action through Leadership and Service. While I love to pack my schedule with opportunities for growth and learning, I do enjoy cooking, traveling, reading, and crafting.
