Fuentes-Bautista Coauthors Chapter on Media Literacy

Martha Fuentes-Bautista

Martha Fuentes-Bautista, faculty member at the UMass Amherst School of Public Policy and the Department of Communication, is coauthor of a chapter in a new book about media literacy in higher education.

The chapter, “Building Media Literacy in Higher Education: Department Approaches, Undergraduate Certificate, and Engaged Scholarship,” appears in the recently published Handbook of Research on Media Literacy in Higher Education Environments. Fuentes-Bautista wrote the piece with her her Communication Department colleagues Allison Butler and Erica Scharrer, a School of Public Policy associate faculty.

The chapter details the Department of Communication's curriculum and scholarship on the topic of media literacy, demonstrating how faculty, students, and community partners bring media literacy theory and practice to action.
