School of Public Policy/JK Lakshmipat University Program

Professor Al Roberts and students at JKLU

The UMass Amherst School of Public Policy offers a special program with India’s JK Lakshmipat University that allows students at JKLU to receive a graduate degree from SPP.

Students in the joint SPP/JKLU program complete one year of study at JKLU's campus in Jaipur, India. During their second year in the program, they finish their coursework on the Amherst campus and receive a Master of Public Affairs degree from UMass Amherst.

The School of Public Policy’s Master of Public Affairs curriculum provides students with a strong analytical foundation, with courses in policy analysis, statistical methods, the policy process, policy methods, and economics. Courses are taught by award-winning faculty in the fields of public policy and public affairs.

Launched in 2019, the SPP/JKLU program is part of a larger partnership between the UMass flagship campus and JKLU. Under that partnership, JKLU students can pursue master’s degrees in the fields of public policy, business and analytics, and applied economics at UMass Amherst after completing coursework at JKLU. In addition, faculty at the two universities collaborate on research under the partnership.

Students enrolled in the joint UMass/JKLU programs are invited to apply for a scholarship offered by the Lakshmipat Singhania Education Foundation.

Students interested in applying for the SPP-JKLU program should contact the JKLU admissions office.
