Student-Hosted Radio Program Examines Violence Against Incarcerated Women

Health Promotion and Policy doctoral student Anna Mullany recently hosted a radio program examining incarcerated women who have been the victims of domestic and sexual violence. Mullany is the host of a weekly show on Brattleboro Community Radio WVEW-LP 107.7 FM.

Joining her on the program were Ashley Messier from the Women's Justice and Freedom Initiative and Karen Tronsgard-Scott of the Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Messier and Tronsgard-Scott discussed the conditions and abuses at Chittenden correctional facility - the only women's facility in the state – as well as topics ranging from abolition vs reform; intimate partner violence; restorative justice; and how community can get involved to make change.
