She will deliver a talk titled "Addressing food insecurity among people living with HIV in Latin America: Developing multi-sectoral, sustainable interventions."
This talk with describe mixed-methods research conducted over the past decade with community partners across various Latin American countries to understand the situation of food insecurity and nutrition among people with HIV and effects on HIV treatment outcomes. The work culminated in the development of an integrated urban gardens and peer nutritional counseling intervention, which was recently piloted across two HIV clinics in the Dominican Republic and showed promising results. Next steps include scaling up the intervention and evaluating implementation across a larger number of clinics as well as exploring important mediators of the intervention’s effects.
