CPE Offers New Course on Public Health Practice Through the Ages

June 24, 2019

Continuing and Professional Programs in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences is offering a new course, Public Health 370A: Public Health Practice Through the Ages, during CPE Summer Session Two. The 3-credit course, offered online July 8 through August 16, is open for registration.

Public Health 370A will provide an overview of the field's evolution over time in order to better understand the roots of the health inequities that persist today. Together, the class will discuss ways in which emerging public health professionals can draw on the past to inform and strengthen approaches to improving overall health.

About the instructor: Kelsey DeLeon (Jordan) '14, a UMass Amherst, is excited to teach this important course. Kelsey’s background is in public health education, health literacy, doula and birth work, in-patient clinical care, and LGBTQ health education and advocacy. Questions about the course can be directed to Kelsey at kmjordan@umass.edu.
