Nutrition and Community Health Education alumna Leslie Chambers, '79, MS '85, recently spoke about her experiences as a student at UMass Amherst in a video produced by the UMass Profile Series. "A UMass graduate should be totally confident that your vigorous academic experience has prepared you for any field that you want to go into," she says. "And your life experiences, your leadership opportunities, all these different things will help you be totally successful in any career that you're going to embark upon."
Chambers is the President and CEO of the American Parkinson Disease Association. She recently keynoted the Dean's Symposium on Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Diseases, and was honored by the SPHHS with its Award for Significant Contributions to the fields of public health and health sciences in recognition of her achievements in the areas of leadership development, fundraising, business planning, program development and advocacy in working with the non-profit voluntary health sector.
