Masters Programs

SPHHS Student Research Day

The Health Policy and Management program offers masters degree curricula leading to the Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree, the Master of Science (M.S.) degree, and, in conjunction with the UMass Amherst Center for Public Policy & Administration, a Master of Public Policy & Administration (M.P.P.A.) and Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) dual degree program. Our degree programs prepare public health professionals for managerial and administrative positions in health organizations and institutions (both voluntary and private), and in planning and regulatory bodies of federal, state, and local health agencies.

At this time, the Department does not offer an undergraduate major in Health Policy and Management; however, several undergraduate courses are offered. We encourage undergraduate students to take one or more of these courses, as they provide a good jumping off point for a career in Health Policy and Management. Undergraduate students are also advised to consider the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Public Health Sciences degree program. High-achieving undergraduate students may opt for the 4+1 B.S./M.P.H. program with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.

The Health Policy and Management program is a part of the Department of Health Promotion and Policy in the UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS). The SPHHS is fully accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health, and is a member of the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health.
