The Health Policy and Management program offers a range of degrees programs, including Master of Public Health (M.P.H.), Master of Science (M.S.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree options. Our goal is to prepare public health professionals for managerial and administrative positions in health organizations and institutions (both voluntary and private), and in planning and regulatory bodies of federal, state, and local health agencies.
Our award-winning faculty has decades’ worth of experience educating students in the classroom and in research settings, preparing future generations of health professionals and researchers in the field. Faculty expertise extends to local, state, and federal public health policy making and evaluation; the economic evaluation of health care services, including pharmaceutical economics and policy, and the economics and politics of HIV/AIDS, tobacco control, obesity, and international health; violence and injury prevention; occupational safety; and emergency preparedness and bioterrorism.
The Health Policy and Management program is a part of the part of the Department of Health Promotion and Policy in the UMass Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS). The SPHHS is fully accredited by the Council of Education for Public Health, and is a member of the Association of Schools & Programs of Public Health.
