Studying the Social and Economic Impacts of Gambling in Massachusetts

The SEIGMA study is designed to monitor the social and economic impacts associated with the introduction of casino gambling in Massachusetts and provide early warning of negative impacts that may need to be mitigated.  The study uses a state-of-the art design, a mixture of different research methods, and a careful analytic approach to establish the effects of casino gambling at state, regional, and local levels.  The research team collects data itself as well as using data gathered by other organizations.  The SEIGMA study is funded by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
