School News

Dean's Welcome

Dear Friends of the School of Public Health and Health Sciences,

The School of Public Health and Health Sciences continues to grow and thrive, and it is with great pleasure that I share news of its faculty, staff, students and alumni with you. These dedicated people make the School of Public Health and Health Sciences a success, and through their efforts we will continue our upward trajectory. We were fortunate to hire terrific faculty and staff this year, to provide unique experiences to students, and to continue to successfully build the infrastructure for the School. As we continue to reach out to friends and engage more alumni to assist the School in its efforts, our strength will grow.

You will read about the great accomplishments of several people in this newsletter, and we know we have many more people to laud. Please send us your news and stay connected to the School. Your support is what makes the SPHHS a community.

Finally, please mark your calendars for our SPHHS fall event on November 5, 2011 in connection with Homecoming. We hope to see you there so you can reconnect with faculty, staff and old friends, and meet new faculty and staff. If you would like to be part of the Planning Committee, please contact Patrick Freeman, whom we thank for the terrific job putting together this newsletter. Patrick can be reached at or by phone at 413-545-4340.

Best wishes for an enjoyable and rewarding summer,

Marjorie Aelion
