Patricia Gubitosi, associate professor in languages, literatures, and cultures, was elected 47th president of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest (LASSO) at its annual meeting at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
LASSO’s purpose is the advancement of the scientific study of language. While many members study the languages of the southwestern U.S., LASSO has an international focus; it draws its membership and includes linguistic scholarship from any language and any region in the world.
