Study Abroad + Internship in Buenos Aires

Are you thinking of going abroad during Spring 2020? I would like you to be aware of this amazing opportunity to take courses and, at the same time, do an International Internship with the support of the City Government of Buenos Aires.

The government of the city of Buenos Aires, in an effort to further promote international students coming to study in the city, is offering the possibility of completing an internship within a city office.  A tutor will be assigned to interns during their professional experience and help them to build professional skills!  Participants may be selected to be involved in internships in one of the following city offices:  External Commerce and Investment Promotion; Housing Institute; Strategic  Management and Institutional Quality; Innovation and Open Government; Environmental Protection Agency; Health; Urban Development and Transport; Secretary of Housing and Social Integration; Sub-Secretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism; General Direction of Family Development; among others!

This is an incredible chance to gain working experience abroad, and add an international professional experience to your resume!

Requisites to participate in this program:

1) Be a Spanish major and have completed the Advanced Language Preparation for the major.
2) Enroll in the study abroad program in Argentina for the academic semester of spring 2020.

Please be advised that all undergraduate students must get approval from the International Programs Office (IPO) for an international internship at least six months in advance.

Translation Center at UMass

The Translation Center is seeking to fulfill several intern/student assistant positions during summer 2019 (May – August) and the 2019-2020 academic year. A student hired in the summer may be able to continue during the academic year. Students may work for academic credit or pay.

About the Translation Center of the University of Massachusetts Amherst:

The Translation Center provides translation, transcription, interpreting, film subtitling, workshops, language consulting, and much more to a variety of clients from near and far including small businesses, corporations, museums, law firms, hospitals, NGOs, filmmakers, advertising firms, educational institutions, state and government agencies, and individuals. In addition, the Translation Center supports the community of individuals with an interest in translation at UMASS and the nearby colleges. Many faculty either translate themselves or publish about translation phenomena. 
Undergraduates and graduate students take courses on translation. The Translation Center is proud to sponsor translation- and language-related activities at UMASS and the Colleges.

Intern/Student Assistant Responsibilities:

Work closely with Translation Center’s Assistant Director and Project Managers on specific projects from clients. Interact with clients about services via email and phone, or in person. Participate in the translation process as translators (depending on experience) or quality reviewers. Prepare translations for finalization (editing, formatting, mailing). Assist with other appropriate professional and clerical tasks. 
Occasionally work the with the Center’s Director on special projects. 
Offer office administrative support…and more!


Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
    Strong attention to detail
    Great customer service
    Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in an efficient manner
    Strong computer skills and comfortable using Microsoft Office Programs
    Multilingual and fluency in a language other than English
    Work-study availability is preferred but we will consider NON work-study students
    Preference given to rising sophomores or juniors

Spanish and Portuguese Studies Communications Internship

The Spanish and Portuguese Studies Program is looking to fill one unpaid internship position to support our communications effort during the fall of 2019. Our student intern will work for academic credit. The position requires about 6 hours of work per week (and would carry 2 credits).


Our student intern will be working with the Program Director, and will be responsible for regularly updating our social media presence, document program-sponsored events, develop and update website content, as well as write profiles of selected students and alumni. 


  • Advanced knowledge of Spanish and / or Portuguese.
  • Excellent written communitcation and editing skills in English.
  • Excellent computer and social media skills..
  • Availability and timely turn-around of simple tasks.
  • Capability to meet deadlines regarding more complex assignments.
