Professional Bio

Jorge Antonio Sánchez Rivera (A.B.D., Boston University; B.A., M.A., University of Puerto Rico) is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a lecturer with research interests such as contemporary Latin American literature, the fantastic and neo-fantastic genres in Latin American narratives, violence in contemporary Latin American literature, Narco-Literature from Colombia, and Argentinian narratives written by women. His current projects include a compilation of interviews with contemporary Latin American writers from Argentina (Liliana Heker, Ana María Shua, Agustina Bazterrica, Vera Giaconi, Mariana Enriquez, Samanta Schweblin, among others), and a study of contemporary fantastic literature that questions and challenges patriarchal and anthropocentric ideologies of our society.
